Mara! Band launches new show for Musica Viva In Schools 2020

Mara! are very excited to have launched their new Musica Viva in Schools show, 'Music in my suitcase' with several performances on-line in 2020.
In May/June 2021 the show toured live for 3 weeks in Western NSW, and commenced shows in metro Sydney. Performances continue in Sydney in term 3 and 4, and a 2 week tour will visit NSW's Hunter region in term 4. In 2022, the show is scheduled to tour in the Northern Territory and Victoria as well as in regional NSW.
Music in mt suitcase draws on the vibrant musical cultures that have inspired Mara! both here in Australia and around the world during their extensive travels, with contributions by folk music experts Padrig Sicard (Breton), Riccardo Tesi (Italian), Sabahattin Akdağcık (Turkish), Muharrem Aslan (Kurdish) and Viv Llewellyn (Welsh). The vision and online resources for the new show were developed by Mara! band members (Mara, Llew Kiek, Tim Clarkson & Stuart Vandegraaff) in collaboration with a highly skilled team from Musica Viva In Education, including Michael Sollis (Artistic Director MVIS), Sonia de Freitas (producer), Misa Yamamoto, Jemma Tabet and Flora Benson.

"Music in my Suitcase" carries on from many years of performances of “Global song and dance”, Mara!'s highly successful MVIS show, which has been performed to thousands of students in all states and territories of Australia, and in Singapore & Hong Kong.
