Llew Kiek Education and Workshops

Education

Over the past 35 years Llew has performed with Mara! for Musica Viva in Schools in all Australian states and territories, and for them has toured schools in Laos, Vietnam, Singapore and Hong Kong. He has worked as a music teacher in several state and private schools. He has given workshop/lectures at University of Sydney, University of Western Sydney, UNE Armidale, Adelaide University, UNSW, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Lismore CAE and Ultimo TAFE. He has performed for Arts Council schools tours in several states and at schools in the UK and France. Llew has been a music consultant for the Australian Children’s Television Foundation, the Jaxter music awards, and the Rock Music Development Grants scheme.
 
Llew currently conducts "World Music Ensemble" for the Open Academy at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, teaches guitar in the "Play at the Con" Program, runs an undergraduate ensemble at Sydney Uni and with Mara Kiek is a tutor for the Balkan Ensemble at UNSW.
 
With Mara he is currently artist in residence at Heckenberg Public School for Musica Viva.
 
  
Workshops
 
With Mara Kiek, Llew has conducted vocal workshops with Sydney Children’s Choir, Gondwana Voices, Australian Girls Choir (Canberra), Wollongong Children’s Choir, Petrunka Choir (Melbourne), Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir and Southern Gospel Choir (Hobart). Llew was director of the Sydney A Capella Festival in 2001, and with Mara has tutored dozens of community choirs throughout Australia, with vocal workshop seasons for a diverse range of organisations such as North Queensland Music Centre, Gorgeous Voices Festival and Ten Days on the Island (Choral Island project).
