Mara Kiek Artistic Direction and Composition

Mara has directed major choral projects with the Humming Birds for NSW Arts North West and Musica Viva in 2002 and 2003, and she was the Artistic Director of the Sydney A Cappella Festival 2001 and the Ten Days on the Island project “Choral Island” in 2003, which involved over 300 singers from around Tasmania.

Mara has composed and arranged music for Mara! band, Martenitsa, Sydney Children's Choir, Gondwana Voices, Sing NSW, Meryl Tankard, One Extra Dance Company, Legs on the Wall, Humming Birds, Crossroads, Shaun Parker and Girls in Your Town.
In 2000, her composition “Kъm Neizvestnoto” was commissioned by and performed at the Brisbane Energex Festival. The work featured the Mara! Ensemble with the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra, The Queensland State and Municipal choir, and 4 vocal soloists.
